Chris Donaghue believes that dating will turn this woman sexual. Donaghue, who is the Ask the Expert segment author for Logo's NewNowNext failed to consider the existence of Asexuality on this segment that aired at the end of January. Donaghue's dangerous advice on experimentation mirrors the advice giving to many Gay and Lesbian individuals that they should marry or at least try Heterosexual intercourse to see if the activity will cure their innate orientation.
NewNowNext's columnist may have meant that it is okay to experiment if the woman is not sure. Many people have done so, but the assumption should not be that dating will change a person's orientation. Asexuals, like Gays and Lesbians, often know their orientation before they start dating. They may not know there is a word for their orientation.
Experimentation is healthy and should not be discouraged, but the host needed to point out that Asexuality is a real orientation and dating may not awaken sexuality within her.
