Romantics: Just as Diverse as Aromantics

There seems to a misconception among aromantics that romantics love Valentine's Day, are touchy-feely.

That just is not true. Granted, there are some romantics like that, but there are also romantics that hate Valentine's Day and don't like much touch; such as only holding hands and hugging. Some Romantic Asexuals may only like holding hands.

A Romantic That is Not Pursuing a Relationship is Still A Romantic

It's been asked what the word is for someone who is not interested in a romantic relationship, for the time being, at least. Just as sexuals can be celibate for a given amount of time, whether it be 6 weeks or 6 months. Similarily, romantics Asexual and Sexual can go without pursuing a romantic relationship for a given amount of time.

Platonic Partners: A Dating Site that may be of Interest to Asexuals

Platonic partners is a British dating site that, although not entirely an Asexual dating site, might be of interest to Asexuals. Well, British Asexuals anyway. (The author is Canadian and isn't sure if it's just for singles in the UK or if anyone can join, regardless of location on globe).

The website is here.

Daily Californian Columnist Explores Asexual Romantic Relationships

College newspaper columnists do not usually gain little attention outside of their college. The number of college newspaper articles addressing Asexuality has far outpaced the number of stories in the mainstream media. This is both good and bad. It is also representative of the age group that most commonly identifies as Asexual. A recent article, called Sex is the Biggest Nothing explores how romantic relationships form and the problems that can occur in each type of relationship.

The writer starts out with a story about one of her unnamed girlfriends. This girlfriend dated a boy who identified as Asexual. The relationship ends because the Asexual boy made no sexual advances towards the unnamed female. Now, it is possible that the author of the column could have made this part of the story up, but any Asexual who has attempted dating knows this story. The couple went a little farther but the relationship ultimately ended. The sexual partner simply didn't feel that she was desired. This part of the story is again, familiar to many Asexuals who have pursued romantic relationships.

A Little Guide to Romantic Attraction for Aromantics

It's a chemical reaction in your brain that responds to the sight of someone you find attractive.
