Are Asexuals Queer?

Yes and No. In other words, it's up to each individual Ace to decide for themselves whether they want to identify as Queer or not.

Publisher's Note: The LGBT section of the site exists because Asexuals identify as Biromantic and Homoromantic. Transgendered Asexuals also exist. The LGBT groups reached out to the fledgling Asexual community early in its history. It is the position of Asexual News that the LGBT groups and individuals are valuable allies to the Asexual community as it fights for greater recognition.

Are asexuals part of the queer communities? Yes No Hi, I think it depends on how an ace views him/herself. Personally I believe the definition of being "queer" is falling outside the heterosexual wife and kids and white picket fence norm that society tries to push on all of us. I know aces who have been bullied to the point of wanting to commit suicide only because their sexual peers hated their lack of sex in life. The pressure to be one of the cookie cuts is enormous for many people we don't realize. For me personally, being ace makes me queer. I came out to my family and they were pretty hateful about it, condescending as well. I say this with much respect and acknowledgment to lesbians, gays, transsexuals, intersexuals and gender queer folks who have gone thru much worse than me.
