Why aren't Asexuals mentioned in Sex Education classes?

Asexuals are not widely known. The readers to the site probably already know this, but a lack of official regonition also means a lack of mention in sex education. A comment on the Asexual News facebook page asked why there was no mention of Asexuality in Sex Education classes.

Professionals involved in sex education are still not aware of Asexuals and Asexuality. Even if they are, there is a lack of official recognition, which Dallas Bryson, the Asexual Sexologist attributes this to a lack of official recognition. Visitors to her website can find pictures relating to Asexuality in some of her course textbooks.

The study of human sexuality is not the only field where Asexuals are overlooked. The AP stylebook contains no entry for Asexuals although it mentions almost every other common orientation except Pansexual. Psychiatrists are still taught to think of Asexuality as part of a larger condition that they can cure.

A lot of similar questions boil down to he same thing. People don't know who we are.
