Romantic orientation is who you're romantically or emotionally attracted to. Sexual orientation is who you are sexually attracted to or not sexually attracted to.
The definition of Asexual is one who does not experience sexual attraction to anyone. Plenty of Asexuals are romantically attracted to the same gender, the opposite gender, both or in the case of panromantics, disregard gender altogether. Some romantic Aces, might call themselves Bi Asexuals, Gay Asexuals or Lesbian Asexuals.
Bisexuals are sexually attracted to both genders, gays and lesbians are sexually attracted to the same gender. Asexuals do not experience sexual attraction to anyone. This is where the labels for romantic orientation come in handy. An Asexual woman who is romantically attracted to other women is a homoromantic Asexual. An Asexual man who is romantically attracted to both is a biromantic Asexual.
(Publisher's note: There are Aces who are not romantically attracted to either gender as well).
Some mention of aromantics would have been appropriate here. Romantic-centrism is a problem in the asexual community.
