Hoopla over Toronto mayor Rob Fords decision to not attend the pride parade unfounded

In case you haven't heard by now (and if you live outside Canada, you might've not), Toronto mayor Rob Ford declined to attend the Toronto pride parade this coming Sunday (July 3rd). This has sparked outrage among many in the LGBT community in Toronto. Few in the Toronto LGBT community voted for Rob Ford in last years municipal election.

And why would the Toronto LGBT community want someone most of them aren't exactly fond of to attend the parade? It would be just as odd as holding an Asexual Pride Parade and inviting Dan Savage to be the guest speaker. Though someone will undoubtedly point out that Savage isn't an elected official. However, Asexuals are ignored by politicians; Politicians court the gay and lesbian voters.
