The recent Dr. Ruth column still fresh on the minds of many Asexuals, it would be reasonable to remain vigilant in continuing to watch over any works that has been and will be published. For the new year, on her Twitter, Dr. Ruth requested her followers to send her their sexual vows or fantasies for 2012. One vow that Dr. Ruth relayed to her followers was from a Twitter user who said they, "went sex free in 2011, partially on purpose. Managed to accomplish a lot without thinking about it. Aim for the same in 2012".
Dr. Ruth replied, “To Each...” Ruth may have been using shorthand for “To each their own”. It is not known if the vow-maker was an Asexual discovering that life can be lived fully without the inclusion of sex. Had Dr. Ruth retweeted instead of leaving no clue as to who the vow was made by, this person could be contacted for further information. The “To Each" remark would seemingly be a positive one of acceptance and tolerance from the doctor.
The very next from Dr. Ruth would once again illustrate that she could use a crash course in Asexual culture(is the bacteria in yogurt Asexual)? The tweet was likely inspired by the aforementioned unknown vow-maker. She tweeted “It's OK not to have sex but that also means not having a partner and that can be sad. I'd suggest rethinking that vow". Although it goes without saying, Asexuals do in fact have partners and this is often without sexual activity.
In order to to enlighten Dr. Ruth it is important to keep in mind that she deserves the same tolerance that Asexuality is striving for. The good doctor simply needs to be educated about Asexuality and romantic orientations.
