One Group Wants to Return the Bible to Its 'Right Wing' Roots

The Bible has gone through many different revisions over the years. There are numerous debates about the translation errors and what it actually means. The central text of Christianity has found itself at the center of many political debates. People on both sides of many issues have used passages from the Bible to justify their position. A new political debate centers around the text itself. One conservative group believes that the Bible shows too much liberal bias.

The Conservative Bible project, a Bible translation project is endorsed by Conservapedia. Many people, including people who are politically conservative, wonder upon the Conservapedia site wondering if the site is a joke. The endorsement by Conservapedia does little to add legitimacy to a project that people see as ridiculous in the first place.

While the Bible has been used to prove political debates, attempts to edit it to declare an official viewpoint have seen little favor outside of the a particular group that uses them. The last major official revision of the Bible to promote a specific viewpoint that gained wide acceptance occurred during the Protestant Reformation. Joseph Smith, the founder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints attempted a translation of the Bible and the Jehovah's Witnesses use a version that is specific to their church.

Members of the project discuss the attempt in its Google Group. The new translation will remove politically correct language, remove latter-inserted Liberal passages and remove modern usage of political terms. The proponents of the Bible are not opposed to changing the language originally used. They favor changing cast lots to gambling in order to discourage addictive behaviors.

The Conservative Bible project, if it is endorsed by Conservapedia deserves to be widely mocked. Religious scholars quickly point out that the Bible does not belong to any political party. Skeptics point out that God, even if he does exist, is most likely not a Republican. (God is also not a United States citizen and therefore not eligible to vote in U.S. elections).

Members can only join the Convservative Bible Google group if they receive an invitation from an administrator. The link to the group can be found in the links below.
