Adventure games were a popular genre that was revived. They are kin to the role playing games, but focus less on combat and more on puzzle solving. BBC Entertainment produced several adventure games featuring the Doctor, his companion and the most important Doctor Who character, the Tardis. Even though the game sold well, BBC has decided to stop producing the adventure games, according to Digital Spies.
Programmers of the games have announced that they will be moving onto new Doctor Who projects. Fans of the series can enjoy the last offering, The Eternity Clock by downloading the game from its website.
Full Throttle and The Adventures of Grim Fan Dango marked a brief end to the adventure game genre, but mystery fans brought it back. Fans of Sherlock may have to wait for modern games featuring Doyle’s detective. Frogware entertainment already makes a line of Sherlock Holmes adventure games.
