One show featuring an Asexual character continues to beat out American Idol in the ratings game. Television viewers who want to believe this signals an end to reality television should face disappointment. Even though The Big Bang Theory has beat American Idol in the ratings recent months, The Voice beat both shows in Nielsen ratings in the first few weeks of March.
Doctor Sheldon Cooper and his colleagues managed to pull in a 5.2 market share in the most highly sought after 18-49 year old demographic according to Yahoo News. American Idol pulled in a 4.4. The competition reality show has only earned lower ratings during its first season.
Even though The Voice beat out Idol, NBC does not fair as well in the ratings. NBC, the network that once dominated Thursday nights, now comes in 4th on the rankings. NBC's new show,The Voice provides the one exception to this rule. The Voice, an American Idol clone, beat both CBS's the Big Bang Theory and American Idol. At least The Voice has not yet furthered the trend of celebrities claiming to be Asexual in order to avoid a media backlash.
