Star Trek, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, Lord of the Rings and Dungeons and Dragons all have one thing in common. Each of these science fiction and fantasy classics has its own MMO. Some of these games are client based while others are browser based. Fans of Doctor Who may note that there is an absence from this famed list.
BBC worldwide plans to correct that oversight. Although the company announced it would stop making Doctor Who Adventures, it did not give up its plans for video game development. The announcement of the development of a browser-based MMO came last year.
Three Rings, the company responsible for the game announced its creation in 2001. Gamers will be able to run missions, engage in a story line and even engage in casual play. Common villains will make their appearance in many missions. Daleks, Weeping Angels, Oods and Zygon will provide foils the most carefully laid player plans.
Developers want the game to be friendly to solo play and group play. The graphics may not compete with the graphics of Star Wars: The Old Republic, but fans will not have to pay a monthly fee to access the game either.
