Half a Dozen New Doctor Who episodes to Air in 2012

Steven Moffat has confirmed that there were only be six episodes of Doctor Who in 2012. Rumors about the BCC clamping down on production costs for the popular science ficition show continue, although they have not been confirmed.

Only the 2009 season saw fewer episodes of the popular sci-fi show. The BBC aired three specials in that year. Doctor Who’s 2012 season will consist of five regular episodes that lead up to the Christmas special. Karen Gillian and Arthur Darvill will leave when the Christmas special airs. A new companion will be introduced during the Christmas episode.

Fans of Moffat’s other BBC series, Sherlock, will have to wait until 2013 to see Series 3.
