The Rumors of The New York Times Outing Jim Parsons Have Been Greatly Exaggerated

Doctor Sheldon Cooper from the Big Bang Theory may be Asexual, but the actor who plays him has long been known to be Gay. A recent article running in the New York Times suggested that the actor, who will soon play Harvey P. Dowd, was outed. The outing, if it occurred, was news to very few people, especially in Hollywood.

Other stories in the past have mentioned Jim Parson’s boyfriend. E!, the popular entertainment website, points out that he has been in a same-sex relationship for ten years. The New York Times articles sparked a small debate on whether or not the character would remain Asexual on the popular CBS sitcom.

Such speculation seems to forget that the character he plays on the show is not exactly the same person he plays in real life. Although the writers and producers of the show have had the character enter into a relationship, people still wonder if Sheldon and Amy are going to consummate their boyfriend and girlfriend relationship. Regular viewers know this has not happened, despite repeated promptings from Amy.
