Lara Pulver: I'm Not Playing The Doctor

Lara Pulver will not appear in Doctor Who. The actress, who played Irene Adler, in Sherlock recently denied any rumors that she would become the first female doctor. Doctor Who, which is one of the shows produced by Steven Moffat, will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year.

Rumors about Pulver playing the Doctor started when the actress spent time in Wales. Pulver claims that members of the press started the rumors because of her previous work with the writer and producer. Members of the media have asked Pulver if she wanted to play the doctor before. Her answer, which was yes and no, may not have pleased the fans entirely but she had good reasons for not wanting the role.

Pulver feared that a female doctor may mean the end of the show. Fans of the popular science fiction franchise, who already had to say farewell to the show once, do not want to see the current reboot of the show end.

For now, there will only be a few episodes of Doctor Who filmed for the next season. The show plans to change the Doctor's companion in the upcoming Christmas special.
