Kreayshawn claims "Asexual" describes her sexuality better than other labels

Kreayshawn, a recent entry into the rap business, recently discussed her sexuality with the San Francisco Bay Gaurdian. SF Bay Guardian reporter Amber Schadewald wrote that the rapper could easily claim bisexuality but prefers she would rather refer to herself as Asexual.

Kreayshawn, as is everybody else, is free to identify however she chooses. Kreayhawns statements become suspect through no fault of her own, but rather because of the activities of other celebrities in the past. Clay Aiken, former American Idol star, is the most notable celebrity who claimed Asexuality only later to come out as Gay.

The description Kreayshawn gives suggests that she might fall into the grey-Asexual or Demisexual category. It may also be that she's an Asexual who simply enjoys intercourse. Reporters who cover celebrities often ask such questions, as if the stars answers to these questions actually mattered. A more refreshing response for the rapper would have been to tell the reporter asking the question that it was none of their business and gone onto the next question.

The answer may have beeng given because rap and hip hop music artists are notoriously unfriendly to queer sexualities and the genres are dominated by male artists. Suspicion may not be justified in this case. Like many other people, she may not know what Asexuality means and even those who understand that some humans experience no sexual attraction do not always apply the word to people appropriately.

If, by some miracle, Kreayshawn reads this article, the only legitimate advice is she probably already knows if she's Asexual or not. If she's not sure what it means, she should start by looking at the AVEN wiki and AVEN message boards.
