Jim Parsons wins Golden Globe for best actor

Jim Parsons won the Best Actor Golden Globe award for his portrayal of the Big Bang Theory's asexual scientist Doctor Sheldon Cooper. Even someone who has watched only a few episodes of the series knows that the actor often misses flirting, seems to have no interest in women or men and does not consider sex to be a major part of his life.

Aside from Spongebob Squarepants, Cooper is one of the few American Television characters viewers can point to as openly Asexual. Adrian Monk is often pointed to as the other example of an Asexual character. Although Monk was married,  the writers revealed during the course of the series that Monks marriage with Trudy was never consumated.

Hollywood insiders debate over Parson's sexuality, but the actor prefers to keep the details of his sex life private. The Movifone blog reports rumors about him getting engaged to his longtime boyfriend last Fall, according to the Moviefone blog. Parsons keeps the details of his personal life private.
