Lady Gaga Starts Born This Way Foundation

Lady Gaga has been called an Asexual copycat, although the pop star, noted for her strange behavior, has not confirmed whether she is Lesbian, Bisexual, Pansexual, Straight or Asexual. The singer’s orientation has little to do with her most recent effort, nor should it be construed as a way to reach out specifically to the LGBT community. Lady Gaga and her mother founded the Born This Way Foundation.

“Led by Lady Gaga and her mother Cynthia Germanotta, the Born This Way Foundation was founded in 2011 to foster a more accepting society, where differences are embraced and individuality is celebrated. The Foundation is dedicated to creating a safe community that helps connect young people with the skills and opportunities they need to build a braver, kinder world,” read the mission statement for the Born this Way website.

Early efforts have focused on anti-bullying campaigns, but despite the initial coverage, the foundation does not focus on LGBT youth specifically. It aims to create a loving and accepting environment for all children and teens.

The foundation does take its name from Gaga’s song “Born This Way”. Asexuals unfamiliar with the symbolism used in the video suggested that the upside down triangle in the official video was a hint at Asexuality. The triangle symbol comes from the holocaust and unicorns have been used as an LGBT symbol for many years.
