Child Celebrities Stand Up to Kirk Cameron

Kirk Cameron offered his opinions on same-sex marriage during the Piers Morgan show recently. Many people have justifiably criticized Cameron for his opinions, although they have missed one key element. Cameron, one of the former child actors on Growing Pains, has exercised two of his first Amendment rights by making the statements. The first amendment guarantees the freedom of speech and the freedom of religion. (It also guarantees three other freedoms, none of which are applicable to this situation).

Cameron has suffered the consequences for his actions. No one has ever said that freedom of speech means that a person can say whatever they want. The Bill of Rights is designed to prevent the government from limiting speech. Even though neither side has successfully silenced the other, there has been at least one amusing attempt to call the child actor out for his statements.

One group, calling itself COKC, put out its own video detailing many ways in which the cast of the 80s sitcom may have interacted with Gays and Lesbians. One actor, who appeared on a show the author of this article has never seen, said that only his hairdresser was gay.
