Brian Brown Challenges Dan Savage to a Debate

Dan Savage challenged Brian Brown to a debate. Neither Brown nor Savage fares well with Asexuals in general, but the Seattle-based columnist has encountered Asexuality before. The latter, to his credit, has at least tried to backtrack form his previous position. Brian Brown, of the National Organization for Marriage, has done little to back off his more extreme comments. Brown warned Savage to name the time and place.

Savage accepted, although heated words were exchanged. The debate came after the journalist spoke to a group of High School Students, and he challenged the authenticity of several parts of the Bible. Not every student present at the assembly agreed with the columnist’s rants; and some walked out in protest.

The details of the debate have to be worked out. The duo engaged in some of their differences through their respective platforms. At one point, the Savage Love author referred to Brown using an expletive. NOM’s spokesperson said that Savage would find out how amoral his beliefs are through the debate.

Savage has informed Asexuals not to inflict themselves on normal people, and he has said that Aces should reveal their orientation by the third date. Members of the Bisexual and Transgender community have also taken issue with his statements.
