Archie Comics Gay Wedding Will Take Place In January

The makers of Archie comics have planned a same sex wedding among new characters for several months. The producers of the comic have kept the date of the planned wedding a secret. The writers recently announced that the wedding will take place in January 2012.

Kevin Keller, an officer in the military will get married to an African-American partner. Not only will the wedding mark the first gay wedding in comics, it will mark the first inter-racial same sex couple to get married in comics anywhere.

Not everyone who has heard the news has been pleased with it. Dan Parent may have won a media award from the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, but socially conservative Christians have denounced the comic as denigrating the institution of marriage. Peter Spriggs, a member of the Family Research Council suggested that the comic should return to promoting innocent all-American Life. He accused the creators of trying to further the goals of the sexual revolution.

The controversy of the mini-series probably will boost the sales of Archie Comics at least for a few months.
