The Human Rights Act of 2005 passed through the Maine senate. The bill let transgender men, women and children use the bathroom that was correct for their gender expression. Maine Representative Fredette has introduced legislation to roll back the legislation and provide greater exemption for religious organizations, according to Equality Maine.
Equality Maine started an online petition Maine residents to oppose Representative Ken Fredette's legislation. The new bill will require people to use the bathroom that corresponds with the person's biological gender. Conservative groups such as the Maine Family Policy council have approved the measure.

A good portion of Asexuals will never need HIV testing. Even though this may be true, not all Asexuals follow a life of celibacy and many Asexuals will take up a good cause, regardless of whether Asexuals will be affected by it or not. The Dine Out for Life Event helps communities raise funds to make sure sexually active people have access to the AIDS and other STD tests.
Restaurants around the country are participating in the Dine Out for Aids Event. PFLAG and other groups work in conjunction with local businesses to bring in money for health services that conduct free AIDS testing.
Participating restaurants will let a person make reservations ahead of time. Dine Out for Aids is an event that takes place annually. Not all areas of the country have participating restaurants.
Admin's Note: Asexuals already know not all Asexuals are celibate and that Asexuality and Celibacy are not the same thing.

The Employment Non-discrimination Act, ENDA, was not passedby the senate in 2007. Even though congress failed to pass the law then, Representative Barney Frank (D- Mass) believes the bill’s fortunes might change if he revives it, although the Dallas Voice disagrees with Frank's optimistic assessment.
ENDA provided protections for people based on sexual or gender orientation. The bill did not include explicit protections for Asexuals, in part because Asexuality among humans was largely unknown at the time the bill was drafted.
Political analysts do not share Frank’s optimism. A headline from the Dallas voice proclaimed the odds of passage ‘slim’ and an Autostraddle.com headline proclaimed the bill would probably go nowhere again.

The Delaware Senate approved a measure that would allow civil unions within the state by a 13-6 margin. The bill has yet to win approval from the state's House of Representatives, although the governor voiced his support for the bill, according to the LGBTQ Nation blog.
The governor is likely to sign the bill, which has the support of over 62% of the residents of Deleware. Two last minute amendments proposed by Senator Robert Venables were defeated. The first proposed change to the bill allowed relatives living together to enter into civil unions for the same benefits and the second amendment required the bill to be passed by the people of Delaware.
“It’s time for this bill to pass. It’s time for the bill to be signed. It’s the right thing to do for the people of Delaware,”said Gov. Jack Markell.
A similar law, allowing full Marriage failed to pass the Maryland House of Representatives earlier this year. Hawaii's governor signed in a law allowing same sex couples to enter into civil unions.
