Although the groups have largely different issues, both transgender activists and Asexual activists have lobbied for changes in the way the mental health profession treats members of each group. While Asexuals have fought against lack of sexual desire being seen as a disorder, transgender individuals fight against the inclusion of gender identity disorder.
Transgender activists have argued Gender Identity Disorder is not a disease and should not be treated as such. Acocrding to the Montreal Gazette, they make the comparison between gender identity disorder and homosexuality in the 70s. Asexuals make the same comparison with how they are treated. A recent poll also showed 4% of transgender individuals are Asexual.

West Virginia congress does not vote on anti-discrimination bill

Maryland may have nearly passed a marriage equality measure, but a neighbor to the states West has struggled with a different issue. The West Virginia state house did not vote on House Bill 2045 that would have added language that prevents housing and employment discrimination based on sexual orientation, according to LGBTQ Nation. Despite overwhelming support in the senate for the measure in the past, state politician refused to pass the measure for fear of political backlash it might cause. Neither bill before the house or the senate made it to the floor of the appropriate house.

WWE works with GLAAD to bring anti-bullying message to professional wrestling

World Wrestling Entertainment admitting it has writers is not a starting revelation No one thinks professional wrestling is real. A revelation that the WWE has decided to work with the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation to conduct workshop fits is writers might surprise some people.
WWE made the decision to have its writers undergo workshops after wrestler John Cena issued a series of homophobic taunts against Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, according to GLAAD's blog. GLAAD members expressed concern overt younger audience reached by World Wrestling Entertainment may experience increased bullying or young people likely to engage in bullying may find the behavior acceptable.
The organization issued a statement apologizing for the incident and saying that the organization took steps to make sure it does not happen again. Future plotlines for the ongoing series will feature anti-bullying messages.

A well-known advice columnist may have accused Asexual people of trying to trap gay, straight and bisexual people into relationships that do not include intercourse this February. The reaction sparked a storm of protest in the Asexual community. A recent column appearing on After Elton website took a different course of action. The column almost escaped notice because the author did not embark on a questionable rant against Ace dating habits.

U.S. populace favors same sex marriage by a small margin

Americans, previously largely opposed to same-sex marriage, have changed their minds about the issue, according to a recent poll conducted by ABC and the Washington Post. The results of the poll came just shortly after a bill that would allow same-sex couples to get married in Maryland was defeated by the house of Delegates.
