RA Candidate at Miami University Files Complaint Against College President for Being Assigned to Female Dorm

Kaden Kass, an FTM student at the University of Miami applied for a job as a resident adviser. Kass told the university staff that he expected to be housed in a male dormitory, but when the application was approved, he was told he would preside over a female dormitory. Although Kass presents as male, his birth certificate still says female.
Miami University of Oxford Ohio’s non-discrimination policy prevents discrimination on the basis of race, religion, country of origin, veteran's status, sexual orientation or gender identity. When the student filled out his application, he made sure Residence Life was aware of his housing requirements. Living in sex-segregated dorm with female students was not acceptable to Kass.
Cicero Police Department Sued by Transgender Woman Alleging Harassment

A transgender woman in Cicero Illinois has sued the local police department alleging harassment. Officers stopped Bianca Feliciano on the 1400 Block of Cicero and apprehended her on suspicions of prostitution. They took the young woman into custody and would not accept state-issued ID that identified her as a woman. Officers said they thought the ID Feliciano held was fraudulent.
Officers Scott Harris and Jose Calderon were named in the lawsuit filed on the sixth of last month. Cicero's police department eventually held her on tobacco possession by a minor and unlawful possession of a weapon. The weapon, found in Feliciano's purse, was a sock with a rock stuffed inside.

Indiana Youth Group's LGBT License Plate Pulled

The Indiana BMV offered a LGBT license plate, but car owners can no longer buy the plate. The Indiana LGBT Youth Group was one of three organizations that had permission to offer specialty license plates revoked. Two other groups, the 4-H Foundation and the Greenways Foundation also had permission for license plates revoked.
Indiana legislators tried to influence the BMV to pull the license plate, but the decision came about because the group sold low numbered license plates in exchange for the largest contributions.
Dharun Ravi Found Guilty of Hindering Apprehension, Invasion of Privacy and Witness Tampering

A jury found Dharun Ravi not guilty on several accounts of bias intimidation. The jury in Ravi's case did not absolve him of all the charges he faced. Ravi was found guilty of invasion of privacy of his roommate Tyler Clementi.
The jury may have thrown out the bias intimidation charges, but the former Rutger's university student was found guilty of witness tampering and hindering apprehension in addition to the invasion of privacy charge. A sentencing hearing will determine his punishment.
