David Jay Receives Naked Truth Award

Neither David Jay nor the Asexual movement have been the recipient of many awards. People who have not heard of the idea react with shock, surprise or disbelief. Sometimes they reaced with all three. Although Naked Therapy, a sex and relationship therapy blog recently decided to honor David Jay and the entire Asexual movement.

The award was offered in response to a recent article in the Atlantic. Many people responded to the article in negative and positive formats, but the therapist blog is the first one to actually understand what Activists connected with the Asexual Visbility and Education Network have said the goals of the Asexual movement are.

“This dialogue, up until recently, hadn’t acknowledged the Asexual identity let alone accepted it and embraced it as legitimate and true. But David Jay, and his online community the Asexual Visibility and Education Network hope to carve a place for Asexuals in our current culture,” wrote Sarah White explaining her decision to award this week's Naked Truth Award.

The line quoted before is the often quoted line about creating a dialogue about sex and sexuality. It is true, as Sarah White asserts, that the dialogue has been absent from sex and sexuality. Jay may lead the movement, but he is not the only one who contributed to this dialogue. The founder of naked therapy recognizes this.
