APA Has Not Responded to DSM-5 Critics

Allen Frances, one of the leading critics of the DSM-5, recently wondered why the American Psychiatric Association has not appropriately responded to the criticisms of the book. He has criticized the APA several times in his Huffington Post column.

The head of the DSM-IV task force is one of the highest profile DSM-5 critics. A letter from the petitioners accuses the committee of using ad hominem attacks to discredit critics, rather than addressing the concerns. The APA has canceled the second round of field testing and has not subjected the book to the same forensic criteria to which previous editions of the manual were subjected.
