Newly published academic papers explore Asexual issues

Mark Carrigan, E. Przybylo, and E.J. Kim have published three new papers that mention Asexuality. The papers appear in this months issue of the Sexualities journal. Carrigan and Pryzbolo are founders the Asexual studies list.

Pryzbylo's paper “Crisis and safety: The Asexual in sexuosociety” deals with the implications of Asexuality in modern society. It touches on the oversexualization of society and how the emerging sexual identity challenges the notions about how normal certain acts are in society.

Herzliya Interdisciplinary Center Students wish to study online usage of Asexual forums

Two students from the Herzliya Interdisciplinary Center have asked for help from the members of AVEN. The students wish to collect data about the participation in Asexual forums. The students, who gave their names as Shir and Yael, have designed a brief survey. Anyone who wishes to complete the survey can do so by clicking on this link.

Andrew Hinderliter, a member of AVEN’s project team, announced the project in a thread on the organization’s message boards. Every research request post on AVEN must be approved by the members of the project team. Participation in the survey is voluntary and the program is designed to let the user stop taking the survey at any time.

Asexual book collaboration

There's currently a project underway for Asexuals to contribute to writing a book on Asexuality. Including both personal stories and general information on Asexuality. Aspects of the book include:

  • Asexuals in relationships: Platonic relationships, work relationship, familial relationships & romantic relationships.
  • Asexuals in a sexual culture.
  • The Asexual community.
  • Resources
  • Discovering Asexuality
  • Aesthetic attraction. As well as masturbation & repulsion.

The book is nowhere near being published yet, but there will be updates as it progresses. Any Asexuals interested in contributing to the book, click the link above.

(Publisher's Note: This project is far from publication). (Ed Note: 'Far from publication', is really just an euphemism for 'nowhere near being published', FYI).
