Asexual Gamer's Network launches its own site

Asexual gamers did not have an online place where they could congregate until recently. Gaymers can find sites dedicated to their interests. Girl gamers have been around since all genders found out video games are fun. Both of these subcultures have active subcultures. Asexual gamers have not had a site to cater to Ace video game players specifically.

Swankivy -- Asexuals need real-world understanding

Asexuals may know Swankivy from her “Letters to an Asexual” YouTube series. Her other efforts include launching and maintaining a website. Swankivy started describing herself as nonsexual in High School, and says that most of her peers accepted her viewpoint. A few persistent males would offer to 'help' her with this problem. She relates the story of a young man who pressured her into a kiss after an outing. She consented, but when the kiss became more aggressive she stormed away. The young man called after her claiming that he was only trying to help her.

NLGTF turns down Jay's Request for Asexual Curruculum at NLGTF's Creating Change Conference

The National Gay and Lesbian task force's Creating Change conference did not have an Asexual curriculum in 2010. It will not have one in 2011 either. 2010 and 2011 are different from previous years  because no one submitted am Asexual curriculum to the conference prior to these dates. Sara Brooks and David Jay have had their request turned down on both occasions.

The requests were turned down on the grounds that the curriculum did not help the NLGTF meet its goals of expanding political power. The NLGTF acknowledged that many people who are Asexual desire a broader acceptance to LGBT communities and that it is one of many possible sexual expressions.

Asexual Awareness Week Project Ace Answers Seeks Volunteers

podcast schema in GermanThe members of the Asexual Awareness Week committee for 2011 have introduced a number of visibility projects. Projects announced previously include a blog swarm project and a presentation in a box kit. Another project similar to the blog project involves the use of Podcasts and podcasting technology.

AVEN user Hollywood Jane is compiling a list of questions for people to answer. The list should be completed by the end of July. Organizers of the event hope that this will give people a chance to let people hear commonly asked questions about Asexuality directly from Asexuals.

We have temporarily suspended our long standing policy of finding the worst possible photo of Dan SavageAVEN founder David Jay recently debuted on the Savage Love podcast. Dan Savage, who has run afoul of the Asexual community on several occasions, asked Jay a series of questions about AVEN and Asexuality.

The interview with Jay started with a caller asking Savage about people pressuring her to have sex and to have children. The call was used as a segue into the interview with Jay. The dialogue focused on Asexual relationships, although it occasionally diverted to other topics.
