Unapologetic Ace -- new Asexual webcomic launches

 

Explicitly Asexual characters have existed in the webcomic world for sometime. Perhaps the longest running is Eredicus Poe Nostramus from Parativity. Asexual News recently speculated that the character of Susan Pompoms from El Goonish Shive was also Asexual. (Admin's note: Dan Shive has not responded to requests to reveal the character's actual orientation. This might be for plot reasons).

Savanah Tribune columnist includes Asexuals in groups at risk for HIV

 

HIV virfus representationMark Anthony Douglas published an impassionaed appeal for greater actionagainst the HIV virus in the Savannah Tribune. The disease, first discovered in the 1980s, leads to the virus that causes AIDs. It attacks the immune system and eventually a patient dies because of secondary infections. Mark Douglas states that unidentified cases are rising most rapidly in Southern Areas of the United States.

Air New Zealand introduces new 'Cuddle Class'

Asexuals will not strive to join the mile high club. Air New Zealand offers a new service that may make them feel less left out. The new cuddle class, with seats designed for two adults or two adults and one child.

Philadelphia University student conducts research on Asexual community Netnography

University of Pennslvania in PhiladelphiaAsexual research does not occur frequently. The Asexual Sexologist maintains a page of current and ongoing projects. A new project from a Philadelphia University student seeks to do demographic research on the Asexual community on the Internet. The research request went through the Asexual Visibility and Education Network

The student conducting the project is looking to get responses whether or not Asexuals consider themselves to be part of the LGBT community and how Asexuals feel about the LGBT community in general. Whether or not Asexuals belong underneath the Queer umbrella has been a heated discussion.

Asexual Awareness Week puts out call for logo design

Asexual flagThe Asexual Awareness Week committee for 2011 announced the date for the 2011 event last week. Despite the formation of a committee and a date, the 2011 event does not yet have a logo. A member from the committee announced a request for design logos.
